The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has introduced a new platform, SBTi Services, designed to meet the surging demand for target validation as more companies commit to environmental goals. The online tool, which includes a validation portal, will allow businesses to submit, track, and validate science-based carbon targets, supporting an industry-wide push for decarbonisation.

SBTi reports that requests for target validation have spiked by 60% in the past nine months, signalling a significant increase in corporate interest in climate commitments. SBTi interim CEO Sue Jenny Ehr noted that SBTi Services was established to ‘meet the urgent demand for validation services while accelerating the development of a broader range of standards to support businesses’ and to assist companies in taking proactive environmental action.

Starting this week, companies can register through the validation portal on the SBTi Services website. The platform provides information on eligibility requirements, pricing tiers, and a streamlined path for target setting.
SBTi Services operates as a new, wholly-owned subsidiary of SBTi, enabling the organisation to expand its validation and standards services rapidly. In a statement, SBTi highlighted that the new corporate structure would allow it to ‘scale at pace’ while continuing to provide high-quality support for businesses in their decarbonisation efforts.
With SBTi Services, businesses now have a dedicated platform to help them meet the growing expectations for environmental accountability and environmental progress.
