Environmental impact through restoration

Through the implementation of this restoration and reforestation initiative focused on indigenous species, a path towards revitalisation is offered to the environment, restoring the vital ecosystems and habitats of the Dé forest. Once the area is restored, endangered species could possibly return to the forest.

The project's impact

Key aspects of the Dé Forest Restoration Project include promoting sustainable forest management, creating job opportunities, and offering capacity-building activities to enhance local livelihoods. We prioritise educating communities on the significance of forest conservation, emphasising multiple benefits, including carbon storage.

Focused on indigenous species, our restoration initiative in the Dé forest is a powerful force for environmental revitalisation. This not only contributes to the environment's overall health but also creates a potential haven for endangered species.

About this region

The project is developed in the classified Dé forest in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in the southeastern part of the country. Côte d'Ivoire, a highly biodiverse nation, has seen a dramatic decline in its forest cover. The Dé Forest has experienced considerable degradation in the aftermath of the civil war. Due to the prevailing instability, the protected forest area was transitioned from its original state into cocoa and later cashew farming. However, within this context, an opportunity for positive change has emerged to restore this forest. Once the area is restored, endangered species could also possibly return to the forest.
