The Dé Forest Restoration Project aims to restore nature and forest cover and promote sustainable forest-management practices in the classified Dé forest in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. Forest restoration and community training will further enhance local communities' livelihoods. The project is implemented through a partnership with AGRO-MAP SAS and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, represented by the Ministry of Water and Forests.
This project will restore the forest ecosystem and foster an environment of increased security, development, and prospects for the local population. The project will involve the participation of local communities living in and around the selected forest area. The project aims to enhance the livelihoods of local communities by promoting sustainable forest-management practices, creating job opportunities, and providing capacity-building activities. The project will also involve training local communities on the importance of forest conservation and the benefits of carbon storage.
Through the implementation of this restoration and reforestation initiative focused on indigenous species, a path towards revitalisation is offered to the environment, restoring the vital ecosystems and habitats of the Dé forest. Once the area is restored, endangered species could possibly return to the forest.
The visionary Dé Forest Restoration Project, rooted in a commitment to environmental stewardship and community wellbeing, spans a minimum of 41 impactful years.
Key aspects of the Dé Forest Restoration Project include promoting sustainable forest management, creating job opportunities, and offering capacity-building activities to enhance local livelihoods. We prioritise educating communities on the significance of forest conservation, emphasising multiple benefits, including carbon storage.
Focused on indigenous species, our restoration initiative in the Dé forest is a powerful force for environmental revitalisation. This not only contributes to the environment's overall health but also creates a potential haven for endangered species.
Our current list of species includes fruit trees, nut trees, and shade trees, with a diversity of indigenous species.
The project is developed in the classified Dé forest in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in the southeastern part of the country. Côte d'Ivoire, a highly biodiverse nation, has seen a dramatic decline in its forest cover. The Dé Forest has experienced considerable degradation in the aftermath of the civil war. Due to the prevailing instability, the protected forest area was transitioned from its original state into cocoa and later cashew farming. However, within this context, an opportunity for positive change has emerged to restore this forest. Once the area is restored, endangered species could also possibly return to the forest.

The first step is to measure and understand the impact of your business and commit to environmental responsibility. By doing so, businesses benefit the planet and gain a competitive edge. We prioritise nature restoration, offering businesses a path to a greener future. With our carbon footprint calculator, you can get clarity on your business’ environmental impact.
Once you've measured your impact, the next step is to offset your carbon footprint and develop strategies that leverage nature-based solutions. Carbon offsetting is about investing in positive environmental impact. Our nature-based approach ensures you contribute to tangible, nature-positive outcomes that align with your values and vision, contributing to a more sustainable world.
After you have offset your carbon footprint, you can celebrate being nature positive. You can communicate your positive impact to stakeholders. DGB can help you with your ESG reporting as well as corporate communication strategies. This isn't just about accountability and transparency; it's an opportunity to inspire others and showcase the tangible benefits of investing in nature conservation.
In the context of international carbon markets and the Paris Agreement, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire currently does not have finalised national legislation corresponding with the internationally established Article 6 framework. The government is formulating its approach and structure for Article 6 and its broader implications, with us, as stakeholders, actively engaging with the government to assist and guide policy development.
We champion nature-based solutions as a powerful pathway to sustainability. Explore our diverse portfolio and discover how we are creating tangible environmental and social impacts that go beyond carbon reduction.
