DGB Group Q4 2024 update: progress, achievements, and looking ahead

Key milestones achieved in Q4

  1. Verified carbon unit production:

    • DGB has successfully produced its first verified carbon units (carbon credits) from its own projects. This milestone highlights DGB’s commitment to robust project design, implementation, and verification, ensuring high-quality environmental outcomes.

  2. Project certifications:

    • Two reforestation projects—the Hongera Reforestation Project and the Greenzone Reforestation Project—were validated under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), underscoring their compliance with international standards for credibility and impact.

    • DGB’s energy-efficient cookstove initiative—the Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project—received Gold Standard certification, further strengthening DGB’s reputation for delivering high-integrity carbon projects.

  3. Revenue growth:

    • DGB secured a €2.5 million purchase agreement for carbon units from its Kenya Reforestation Project, reflecting strong market demand for its high-quality offerings.

    • DGB has successfully expanded into plastic removal and biodiversity credits with the launch of its first plastic removal project, demonstrating its ability to diversify solutions to meet evolving market needs.

  4. Strategic portfolio focus:

    • DGB sold a 40% stake in Corekees, reallocating resources to higher-impact opportunities aligned with its long-term vision of achieving its 2030 sustainability goals.

Forward-looking objectives

Building on recent achievements, DGB has set ambitious targets for the months ahead to drive its mission and further enhance its leadership position in the voluntary carbon market.

  1. Scaling carbon unit production:

    • DGB aims to expand its project pipeline to support its long-term goal of generating 500 million verified units by 2030.

  2. Diversifying environmental solutions:

    • DGB is introducing new initiatives in water restoration and renewable energy, complementing its growing portfolio of biodiversity and plastic credit projects. These additions are designed to deliver a comprehensive range of environmental solutions for clients and partners.

  3. Global expansion:

    • Strengthening its international footprint, DGB is focusing on increasing its presence in Spanish-speaking regions.

    • DGB is actively pursuing ITMO (Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes) agreements under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving regulatory landscape.

  4. Innovation in monitoring and transparency:

    • Leveraging advanced monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) technologies, DGB is committed to ensuring the highest standards of transparency, reliability, and impact across its projects.
