DGB Group N.V. ("DGB", "de Groep" of "het Bedrijf") (Euronext: DGB: NL0009169515), een toonaangevende ontwikkelaar van CO2-projecten gericht op natuurbescherming en ecosysteemherstel, heeft de volgende belangrijke mijlpaal bereikt in de ontwikkeling van haar Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstove Project in Kenia (het "Project"). Het Project omvat de productie en distributie van 150.000 energiezuinige kooktoestellen en is ontworpen als een geverifieerd CO2-reductieproject.DGB is een projectontwikkelaar van natuurlijke projecten om hoogwaardige CO2-credits ("CO2-credits") te genereren, ook bekend als CO2-compensatie. Elke CO2-credit staat gelijk aan één ton geverifieerde emissiereductie.
Op 31 augustus 2022 heeft een gerenommeerde koper (de "Koper") een overeenkomst gesloten om 507.720 CO2-credits van het Project te kopen en DGB te voorzien van contante betalingen van €1,7 miljoen bij het bereiken van bepaalde mijlpalen. Het Project ging over naar de volgende fase toen het Project Design Document werd ingediend bij een externe auditor voor controle en validatie. DGB ontving €450.000 voor het bereiken van deze mijlpaal op 5 mei.
De Koper is van plan om haar aandeel in de CO2-credits van het Project na verificatie te verrekenen met de CO2-voetafdruk van de eigen organisatie. DGB verwacht de resterende verwachte 1,3 miljoen CO2-credits (ongeveer 70,25% van het totaal van het Project) te verkopen op de open, vrijwillige CO2-creditmarkt nadat de eerste uitgifte van de CO2-credits is gestart.

Het Project is een van de zeven grootschalige projecten van DGB in ontwikkeling en onder beheer zijn. Het operationele team voert haalbaarheidsstudies uit voor tien extra projecten. In het laatste jaarverslag van DGB, gepubliceerd op 30 april 2023, werd de huidige projectpijplijn gewaardeerd op €21,45 miljoen. Dit toont de aanzienlijke vooruitgang van DGB binnen de snelgroeiende CO2-markt.
