The funding will support conservation, restoration, and regeneration projects, including sustainable agricultural practices and urban ecosystem development. Triodos Bank emphasised that this effort aims to restore ecosystems, sequester carbon emissions, and deliver societal benefits, marking a significant step toward global biodiversity preservation.
Nature-based solutions, as defined by the bank, encompass both natural and semi-natural ecosystems, with an emphasis on sustainability in human-modified landscapes such as cities and farms. By setting these targets, Triodos aims to solidify its position as a leader in NbS financing.

In addition to direct investments, Triodos Bank will adopt stricter biodiversity standards across its operations and collaborate with companies in its portfolio to minimise environmental risks. Key goals include engaging with companies linked to deforestation and biodiversity impacts by 2026 and implementing performance measures for agriculture and urban development loans.
The bank, which operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and the UK, plans to assess the indirect biodiversity impact of its financial inclusion funds and strengthen its sustainability metrics.
Through this ambitious plan, Triodos Bank aims to drive tangible action in restoring natural habitats while promoting sustainable business practices, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in green finance.
