Land Life Company’s mission is to restore the world’s degraded land, which is equivalent to two billion hectares. With this aim in mind, the company engages in numerous projects in various geographies with different types of degradation.
The remaining forests, deserts, grasslands and natural places in the United States are disappearing at a rapid pace. In the last 150 years, an expansive amount of land has been degraded to make room for roads, houses, pipelines, and other developments.
It is estimated that every 30 seconds, a football field worth of America’s natural areas is destroyed with the aim of constructing commercial buildings and developments.
1t.org has partnered with the Land Life Company to help gather and inspire as many companies, nonprofits, governments, and individuals as possible to join together and create a fresh hype around tree planting.
The company’s US chapter aims to conserve, restore and grow one trillion trees globally by 2030.
1t.org aims to help others engage in tree planting activities by asking for pledges and ensuring that these pledges are converted into action through the support of 1t.org. 1t.org is also a part of the World Economic Forum’s efforts to accelerate nature-based solutions and was created to support the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-30.
1t.org’s US chapter’s operations are led by a Secretariat, comprising staff from the World Economic Forum and American Forests. The Secretariat adopts the purpose of helping entities develop pledges.
After a pledge has been created, the Secretariat ensures action by providing support in the form of technical assistance by aiding climate-informed forestry and tracking the progress of each pledge.
The Secretariat also connect all of the participants in the U.S. Chapter into 1t.org’s dynamic global community. Other notable companies that have ledged to 1t.org’s mission include Bank of America, Cliff Bar, Timberland and Verizon.
