Isiolo County leaders, conservation partners from the Northern Kenya Rangeland Carbon Project (NKRCP), and officials from the three conservancies presided over the disbursement of 19 million Kenyan shillings (approximately €130,000) in carbon credit funds to benefit over 4,600 students in the communities.

The event was attended by the Isiolo County Governor, Abdi Guyo, the Deputy Governor, James Lowasa, the Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, Mohamed Roba, local Members of the County Assembly, and stakeholders, who were applauding the ongoing conservation efforts in the area. They urged locals to continue cooperating to maximise the benefits of carbon credits and discouraged negative criticism of conservation partners.
Governor Guyo emphasised the clear benefits of conservation and called for an end to politicising the presence of conservation partners. The bursary funds from carbon credits will go a long way in supporting students from pastoralist communities in Isiolo County, empowering them to access education and improve their livelihoods through environmental conservation efforts.
