CEEZER tackles carbon market gaps with cutting-edge data tools

CEEZER, a Berlin-based carbon credit platform, is making strides in enhancing transparency within the voluntary carbon market (VCM) by introducing a real-time monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) system. This development, created in partnership with four technology providers, aims to bridge critical information gaps in the VCM.

Transparency remains a persistent challenge in the carbon market, where dependable data is vital for environmentally-focused investments. CEEZER's new MRV feature offers users project-specific insights, from nature restoration to advanced carbon removal initiatives, fostering better decision-making for nature-based action.

Dr. Carla Woydt, CEEZER’s Chief Impact Officer, highlighted how the innovation helps address information imbalances between buyers and suppliers, paving the way for investments based on reliable metrics.

The platform has expanded its collaboration network, building on its existing partnership with Carbonfuture, a leader in carbon removal transparency. CEEZER has added three new MRV partners to enhance its data capabilities:

  • Cula uses machine data for real-time project monitoring, delivering actionable insights.
  • Mangrove Systems specialises in measuring technological carbon removal methods like biomass-based solutions and direct air capture.
  • Kanop leverages machine learning and satellite imagery to provide accurate data for ecosystem conservation and restoration.

This integration allows buyers to verify climate impact data with greater accuracy and helps suppliers showcase their project value transparently.

Magnus Drewelies, CEEZER's CEO, emphasised that this functionality is a pivotal step toward building the trust and transparency needed for effective climate action. With access to over 13.5 million data points, CEEZER is advancing its mission to create a reliable and data-driven carbon market.
