The Institute for Forest and Agricultural Management and Certification (Imaflora) introduced the Carbon On Track Restoration platform, a new initiative that calculates carbon removed in restored forest areas. The platform combines Imaflora's expertise in forest monitoring and certification to bring transparency to investors and stakeholders of restoration projects while boosting a low-carbon economy in the climate agenda.

According to Leonardo Sobral, Manager of Forest Chains at Imaflora, the Carbon On Track Restoration platform is a vital step towards the sustainable management of forest restoration projects, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases and the promotion of the Environmental Social and Corporate Governance agenda.

The Carbon On Track platform, launched in 2022, calculates estimates of emissions and removals of greenhouse gases from various production systems at the scale of rural properties. The Restoration module was added recently and has been designed to expand the forest restoration–monitoring solution. Its first customer is the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation.
Rafael Bitante Fernandes, Forest Restoration Manager at the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation, explains that the platform fills an important gap in the growing carbon market. He adds, ‘The solution that Carbon on Track brings maintains all the benefits of third-party verification and transparency, with viable costs’.

In addition to SOS Mata Atlântica's restoration areas, the Carbon On Track Restoration platform also monitors other plantations from the H2A AgroAmbiental Hub. The initiative includes big names in the environmental, legal, and technical industries.
The Carbon on Track Restoration platform has two environments, a public panel for monitoring projects through interactive filters and a customised environment with restricted access, where customers can check all the information about their project and generate detailed reports.
