Many carbon offset projects consider the needs of Indigenous communities. Even so, there are calls for improved engagement and collaboration with Indigenous communities in designing and implementing carbon offset projects. Experts stress that the experiences and priorities of these communities should take precedence in carbon credit deals and environmental justice pursuits. While some projects do recognise these concerns and work towards inclusive and equitable solutions, there is a need for ongoing dialogue and meaningful engagement to ensure that carbon offset initiatives align with the needs and values of Indigenous people. DGB ensures that there is meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities in all its projects, contributing to the long-term success of our projects.
