Dr Matt McLennan, a distinguished primatologist and the Uganda Project Director for DGB Group leading the Bulindi Chimpanzee Habitat Restoration Project, brings over 15 years of expertise in the conservation of chimpanzees. Since 2006, he has dedicated his efforts to studying chimpanzees in unprotected forest fragments in Bulindi, western Uganda.
Dr McLennan is a key figure in the success of DGB's local NGO partner, the Bulindi Chimpanzee & Community Project (BCCP), which was established in 2015. His inclusive approach to chimpanzee conservation, showcased in publications and collaborations, reflects his commitment to protecting wildlife and engaging local communities. Dr McLennan plays a pivotal role in implementing large-scale carbon and biodiversity projects in Uganda, contributing to DGB's mission to restore forests and the vital habitats of the Bulindi chimpanzees.
Dr McLennan is passionate about the conservation of chimpanzees and helping local communities understand the importance of their mutual coexistence. He is fully dedicated to studying and conserving these 'village chimpanzees' in Uganda.
