In 2024, we made remarkable strides towards our goals:
- Project certifications: Two of our reforestation projects achieved validation under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), while our energy-efficient cookstove initiative earned Gold Standard certification, further affirming the integrity of our work.
- Revenue milestones: We secured a €2.5 million purchase agreement for carbon credits from our Kenya Reforestation Project, reflecting strong demand for our solutions.
- Portfolio diversification: We expanded into plastic removal and biodiversity credits, launching our first plastic removal project to tackle the growing environmental challenge of plastic waste.
- Strategic focus: The successful sale of a 40% stake in Corekees enabled us to focus on higher-impact opportunities that align with our 2030 sustainability plan.
These accomplishments represent significant progress in our journey and serve as a foundation for the ambitious goals we have set for the future.
Looking ahead to 2025
Building on the momentum of the past year, we are setting clear, ambitious targets to continue driving measurable impact and fostering sustainability:
- Scaling carbon credit production:
- Accelerating the expansion of our project pipeline to achieve the ambitious long-term goal of generating 500 million verified carbon credits by 2030. This growth will ensure we meet the rising global demand for high-quality carbon offsets while contributing to ecosystem restoration.
- Diversifying environmental solutions:
- Launching innovative water restoration and renewable energy projects, reinforcing our commitment to delivering comprehensive environmental solutions.
- Expanding our portfolio of biodiversity credits and plastic removal projects, addressing urgent environmental challenges while enabling businesses to align with their sustainability goals.
- Introducing nature-positive agricultural projects, aimed at promoting sustainable farming practices and supporting the increasing demand for eco-conscious food and raw materials. These projects will enhance biodiversity while providing community benefits.
- Driving global growth:
- Strengthening our presence in key international markets, with a specific focus on Central Asia, Spanish-speaking regions, and other emerging markets where our solutions can have the greatest impact.
- Actively pursuing ITMO (Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes) agreements under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, positioning DGB at the forefront of the evolving regulatory landscape and global carbon market integration.
- Enhancing transparency and innovation:
- Deploying advanced monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) technologies to ensure the highest levels of accuracy, credibility, and transparency across all our projects. These innovations will solidify DGB's reputation as a trusted leader in delivering measurable and impactful environmental solutions.
